If you have ever explored living life to the beat of a different drum you know what comes next. The naysayers, the poo-pooers, the negative voices that challenge you and ask you what the hell you’re thinking. This can be intimidating and it is possible to be bullied or merely persuaded off your rhythm. It takes guts to do your own thing. Here’s a few things to consider to help you loudly beat a different drum and follow your path:
Four steps to expressing your emotions with feeling
Sounds simple enough doesn’t it? What a silly thing to write about. Well, not so fast! There are many people in this country and on this planet that don’t really know how to feel and express their emotions. Hence the onslaught of additions: drug abuse, alcoholism, eating disorders, cutters, gamblers, sex addicts and more. All situations fed by the simple fact that we don’t know how to deal with things that make us feel uncomfortable.
So he did it – digesting the lies of Lance Armstrong
I was a believer…I really thought Lance Armstrong had a special gift. I cheered him on watching tour after tour and was impressed by how cool this was…seven Tour de France wins in a fow. He’s one of the few celebs I followed on Twitter. Then the accusations grew, I waited for his response and was certainly swayed by how strongly he retorted to the “witch hunt” of the USADA.
Dealing with pushy people in your life
If you are shy or a bit insecure it can be difficult to know how to deal with this type of personality. Yet we all run in to them from time to time. And it can really make things difficult and…stressful.
Do you keep it real?
From a young age we learn that it’s okay to “shape” the truth at times. Some parents even tell us that it’s okay to tell white lies (a harmless or trivial lie, esp. one told to avoid hurting someone’s feelings.)
Something I heard early in my sales career that proved to be true on many occasions is, “People think it’s okay lie to a sales person and still get to heaven.”
