Those first few days it was all I could do to get myself to eat. I had no appetite. I spent every morning in bed journaling, and continuing my gatitude practiced for an hour, two hours or three. whatever it took to get myself up and moving. My energy was gone, drive non-existent and I wasn’t quite sure how to engage with the world because I had never experienced this before.
Losing the Love of My Life
I miss you already. It’s been a day. the house is so empty and quiet without you here. No one talking to me when I pull into the garage. No one giving me the look because you want to eat. No one here licking your lips when I ask, “Are you hungry?” And no one standing here this morning, running in and out of the bedroom waiting, and waiting until I ask, “Are you ready to go for a walk?” and responding with a big tail wag and a jump up from your position on the floor.
Who is Winning?
There is an ongoing debate in your head. You may not even know it’s there, might not hear the fighting or changing of the guards if you aren’t used to identifying the voices. But you’ve got two drivers with hands on the steering wheel of the mind. One is supportive, encouraging and helpful. The other pushes, prods and makes you feel guilty. Which voice do you listen to on a regular basis?
Learning to Let Go
Are you good and letting go? Do you know what it really means to let go of the outcome? Most people are great at setting goals, and creating intentions but then things, situations, people and life get in the way and they don’t understand why they didn’t get what they wanted. And let’s be honest, it can be frustrating. You want it, you’ve decided you’re going to achieve it and whammo, it doesn’t happen.
Headed to College with Mixed Emotions
Is it that time in your house? Are you or one of your offsprings headed off the college for the first time or returning for another year? It is fun, stressful, exciting, scary time for most students and parents I know. For parents of first time college students there is the fear of letting them go for the first time and wondering how they will do without you.
