What was your first thought when you read this headline, Do You Have Enough Time?
Yes! or No, never enough.
Have you ever stopped to notice how often during the course of a day you talk about time?
I don’t have time for that now.
I’m out of time, it’s due today!
I need more time.
I’ve got to be on time.
I’m never on time, I’m always late.
That’s a waste of time…
Do you obsess about time? Are you constantly checking your watch (or phone) to see what time it it and with that activity adding more stress to your life?
Is there a bank where you save and withdraw time (like money)?
Why is it then we have the feeling that time is limited and a scarcity?
I reread a chapter in a book this morning (because I made the time) that has a refreshing perspective on time. Instead of time being “out there” it’s actually “in here” because you are the source of time. You choose how you spend your time, and how much time you’ll give to any one activity based on your priorities. Hmmm…
The stress around time, is something you have the choice to live by, or shift. If you’re always late, you have the choice to leave earlier and arrive “on time” or even early. It is interesting to me that in the land of web meetings, where people don’t even have to walk to a meeting room, that more than half of them are still never “on time.” Priorities.
This is a subject I’ll be talking more about in due time (just a little funny there for ya!)
Why do you get so stressed out about time?
Are you spending too much time on things that have no value, or aren’t your top priority in that moment, or on that day?
Are you rushed to get something done, after procrastinating, because if you’re honest with yourself, you don’t really want to do it?
If you slow down and take the time to do this exercise with me, it will provide more clarity and help you to catch your breath.
Post your answer below to these 3 questions:
1 – What are your top 5 priorities for your time on a daily basis?
2 – How often do you honor those priorities?
3 – If you could change one thing in your life today related to time, what would it be?
You have all the time in the world. Once you change your perspective on who owns it.
