Are you the type of person that gets totally out of balance when the time changes? So much that you just feel “off” for a week or more?
I’ve read that some people really struggle with the change. I’ve been looking forward to it for several weeks because it means the days (daylight) will be longer and I love that! To me the time change is no different than taking a trip to a different time zone. Not a big deal. Plus Spring is just around the corner, although you wouldn’t know it today in Colorado. It’s cold and snowy.
“How intentional are you about the course of your day…and the way it goes?”
Do you set out specific intentions for your day before it begins, or do you just react to what happens as the day goes on?
Being intentional is definitely less stressful.
If you’re not used to thinking about it this way, you may think I’m a little “woo-woo” out there, but time after time it works out.
Examples of being intentional (set your intention before the event):
– Intending a meeting to go well
– Intending the traffic to be easy
– Intending a conversation to flow
– Intending to be calm and deliver a presentation that has an impact
– Intending the repairs needed are your car will fit your budget
– Intend your interview to delight you
– Intend your doggie vet visit is easy
I am very intuitive.
I know before I engage in something, or make plans to attend an event, if I should go or not.
It’s just a feeling in my gut.
Last week I was reminded of an event I wanted to attend last year and never made it.
I knew their meetings were early in the month.
I had a strong feeling that I should go and registered to attend.
I went on Tuesday and ran into a gal I worked with back in 2004-2005.
It was wonderful to see her and reconnect again. It felt really good!
Today I had a call with a person that I was introduced to recently.
I didn’t really “feel” a reason to connect, but someone made a personal introduction, so I felt at least make contact and have an initial conversation. It’s the way to honor the introduction, regardless of where it goes.
I had a nice chat with the woman, but there’s no real reason to follow up or engage from my perspective.
Still I enjoy meeting people and hearing about their journey. There may be a day where I meet someone and can make a connection for her.
Using Intentions
I set my intention before I create and schedule a class.
Before I begin a private coaching session
Before I prepare and deliver a keynote speech.
Before I leave for an appointment (traffic will flow)
It brings me clarity and keeps me focused vs. just blowing in the wind unsure of where I’ll end up.
7-day Challenge
For the next 7 days, commit to being more intentional about your day.
In the evening write down what you notice about the intentions you set and the outcome.
As some will truly surprise you.
