No, I’m not suffering a bout of dyslexia. I’ve inverted the order on purpose to rattle your brain and wake you up.
What an amazing 24 hours I’ve had! It started after I took the dogs for a walk on Saturday. I had the nudge to go to the mall. I wasn’t sure what I needed and shopping for clothes wasn’t on the list, but I followed the urge. After wandering for a few minutes I realized I wasn’t in much of a shopping mood so I headed back to my car.
As I was pulling out of the parking lot I saw the Best Buy store across the street and thought, “I should go see if they are still making smaller phones so I know how to plan.” I do not want one of those big clunker phones everyone is carrying! I like having a phone that fits in the little pocket in my purse and briefcase.
I talked to an employee briefly who showed me, much to my delight that I can upgrade to a similar size phone when I’m ready. I had no intention of buying a phone yesterday. There was an AT&T representative there who offered to look at my plan for me. I told her I wasn’t making a purchase, but if she had time and wanted to look it up that was fine.
She asked me for specific information and tapped away on the keys to access my account. She asked me how much data I use monthly, and looked up the previous month’s usage. Then she looked me directly in the eyes and said, “You’re on an old plan, you can upgrade your phone and we can switch you to a new one that will cut your bill in half.”
At this point, I was looking, I stopped and listened. I’ve had a grandfathered plan for awhile because everything is unlimited. Now I find out that the carrier changed contract structures a couple of years ago I can subscribed for less data, upgrade my phone and cut my bill in half?!
I mentioned how convenient it would be to have a small iPad for speaking events to process payments for book sales. But I’ve never been able to justify the investment, it feels like a luxury. Now as I look, she is showing me an iPad mini that is discontinued, and only $399 and reduced by $100 with a contract. I stopped to listen because this is about half what I’ve always seen them.
True to my intention I bought nothing, but came home to check my monthly usage. And sadly, confirmed that I’ve been overpaying for data usage for months.
Today I went back. I was happy because I followed my gut to go to the store yesterday, which resulted in an offer of significant monthly savings, along with getting a new, faster phone. As we begin to fill out paperwork I took the plunge on the mini iPad (which will make my speaking event assistants happy because they’ll be able to see items, and process payments easier).
The representative tells me there is another promotion on today and the phone is $100 less than yesterday, a nice bonus. As she begins to process the payment on the register she says, “Um, because you activated your phone here in the store today, you get to take advantage of another promotion. Instead of the iPad at $299, you get it for $49.” I looked at her and with a smile said, “Awesome.”
Because I followed by gut and looked for what was trying to get my attention, and because I stopped what I was doing and listened to the representative who offered to review my account when I wasn’t going to buy anything…I saved $100 on a phone, and $350 on an iPad, and will be saving 40% a month on my bill.
Before you say, “Oh Lori, you’re so lucky!” The point of sharing this chronology of events with you is because my daily expectation is that the Universe will look out for me, point me in the right direction and do me good.
I lay the foundation every day with visualization and meditation. I visualize things I want, seeing resources that show up to help me. I use words the word “abundance” daily, and I see my life in flow with money pouring in. I know that money can show up in many ways (including big discounts).
I manifest things because I’m always looking at the world with awareness, listening to my gut, and I stop (at a store) when I don’t even know why I’m going in. Then I receive the gift that’s there waiting for me. It’s a lot of fun!
You’ve got to slow down to be connected to your gut and listen to the guidance—it’s there every day. If you’re busy beating yourself up, complaining about somebody or some thing, you’ll miss it.
