With the new year a lot individuals with eating disorders decide to take action. But for many it’s an action they aren’t sure how to launch or execute. Many have failed attempts in treatment and/or have no local resources to help them.
If you’re a parent of a daughter or son that is caught in the trap of an eating disorder it is difficult to watch and you desperately want to help your child find recovery. Again, location and finances can be a big factor in getting the help you need. It’s frustrating because one of the biggest issues for a person deep in an eating disorder is denial which makes it incredibly difficult to get them engaged.
I remember the promise of the New Year every year when I was bulimic. THIS was going to be the year that I finally got enough willpower to beat the bingeing. And THAT was yet another year I didn’t make it. The vicious cycle lasted for more years than I could have ever imagined.
Fortunately in my journey I was eventually led to the resources and people who could help me. I found the right type of encouragement and support and found what I was looking for all those years. And now I love New Year’s because it’s a great time of promise to set and reach goals for all seven areas of my life—not just one.
In the past five years since I’ve been coaching individuals with eating disorders (and some of their parents), I’ve encountered a recurring issue: the ability to afford help. I’ve heard from girls all over the globe who have no local resources and not enough money to get help. This is a problem I have contemplated a long time to determine how I could help and support more people regardless of where they live or their financial situation.
Finding Hope
I’m so excited to announce the launch of my new online community built so I can coach and help people all over the world. Finding Hope is a community where we offer encouragement in a positive, uplifting way and a place where you can find hope.
This is a private community where you will feel comfortable to share your thoughts and feelings with others, participate in national eating disorder support calls, international chats, weekly contests that offer fun prizes, seminars, interviews with health experts and other resources to help you get focused on where you want to go vs. spending time focusing on your behaviors. Plus you will get FREE gifts just for joining us including my Journey to Freedom class ($625 class for FREE).
It’s a New Year, it’s time for you to find the hope, encouragement and support you need to improve your quality of life and realize that recovery can be in your vocabulary.
If you are a parent we welcome you. We offer resources, encouragement and the support you need as you ride along on this journey with your child.
