Is it hard to admit, that sometimes you’re just plain wrong? I had a big gotcha yesterday that reminded me that I’m still silly.
When I got my tires rotated last November, I asked them to check the spare because my tire pressure light was on and it’s usually triggered by the spare. When I left, the light was off. But when I got back from a business trip a week later, the tire pressure light was on again. It was COLD, and the next day I was headed to pick up the dogs in Nebraska.
Don’t worry, I did visually inspect my tires before I left and none looked low, so I figured it was the spare again. So, now I needed to find time to go back to the tire store, get in line and have them recheck the spare. It has to be lowered down to put air in it and I just didn’t want to mess with it.
I had two weeks off over the holidays, it was on my list to do. But every time I went by the store, it was really busy. Waste of my time I was thinking; I’ll go when it’s a weekday. Then it was January, still need to get the air pressure checked, drove by a few times, still busy. Every time I got in the car the light was on and it was nagging at me, “Take care of me! Hey, Hey, Lori I’m still waiting for you to fix me.”
Then February came , still had the tire pressure light on. Then I had a duet on my dashboard because the wiper fluid was low. Then my right blinker light went out, so I’ve got a trio of things to do for Lexi (my ride). Now it’s easier to address, because I’ve got a group of things to do.
So I made a list and gave myself a deadline to get these things off the list and taken care of. Mind you I’m punctual with oil changes and car maintenance. These were just annoyances. Normally I’d make an appointment at an auto repair to get my blinker light changed, but recently I found out that the guys at Autozone will put on wiper blades, change blinkers and do minor things. Quick, easy and no appointment. Big sprinkling of gratitude to Autozone!
Blinker fixed, I added the wiper fluid and yesterday while I was running a quick errand with the dogs, and noticed the tire store didn’t look that busy. So I drive up and, “You’re kidding me!” They have a “Free air check” sign by the back of the bins. A guy was out there and took care of my tire in 10 minutes. No appointment, or waiting in line. Niko and Kiska were well-behaved waiting in the parking lot with me.
So I was wrong…I made the tire pressure recheck into a really big thing that was gonna take 30-45 minutes or more if they were busy. If I had only driven in there, I would have seen the “Free air check,” sign and had this done three months ago! But I was annoyed that the tire pressure light came on only a week after being there, so I made it into a hassle in my head.
I’ve got to say, driving around yesterday without the light nagging me, was awesome! Monkey off my back…that never should have been there in the first place. If I had just taken action right away, it wouldn’t have been a big deal. But I am still human.
I did get a good laugh about it and a great story to tell you! What’s on your list today that feels like a mountain when in fact it just a little ant hill?
