I attended a professional women’s event last week to be a mentor to other working women. The program started with networking exercises to share new ways to start conversations with other people. One of the questions the leader asked was how many women have ever considered not taking a job because they didn’t think they could do it. I was astounded at the number of hands that quickly flew up in the air.
Life is about growth, growth brings happiness and expansion to your life. If you aren’t seeking to grow, improve and perform better every day you’re missing huge opportunities. The reason so many people shun the “inner work” and stay in “I’m too busy” mode is because they think they can’t handle it.
At this same event, I spoke to another author who asked what I did. I told her I empower women to be successful, be mindful and create balance. She laughed nervously and said, “Well I don’t have any balance,” and couldn’t get away from me fast enough.
Why is it people run from what they need most? The ability to slow down, the ability to believe in themselves, the ability to earn more money and become independent, or reaching out for the key to unlock the door to success. Why? Because the think they will fail, they can’t see how they can change or they’re too scared. They have a bad attitude (about their abilities).
Many of these beliefs were programmed into your mind at a very early age and without realizing it you are still living your life to the beat of a drum that no longer serves you. (We could say that drum is off beat!)
Just imagine what it would feel like if you approached everything in your life with the attitude of, “This is going to work!” How empowering would that be? Yeah, it the beginning it might make your knees shake and your stomach queezy, but as you repeat your positive affirmations day after day your mind begins to embrace the new thought. The new thought creates a new neuronet and now you have a new belief that really serves you to be more productive, create more cash flow, believe in yourself and enjoy the success you’ve always wanted to have.
And if it doesn’t work the first time you do it again, do it over, do it differently, come from another angle, look for the lesson and pay attention so you can do it better next time so it works even better than you imagined.
The first step to achieving anything is attitude. Whatever thing you focus on, talk about, think about and the stories you tell will expand in your life. Be sure to focus on what you want with the attitude that it’s going to work!
