It’s been a busy few weeks here at LHI. I’ve been speaking quite a bit over the last month. It’s always a mix of mystery, joy and fun for me.
Mystery, because I often don’t know how many will be in attendance or how my message will land.
Joy, because there is nothing I love more than preparing, rehearsing and delivering a program to a group of people whether it’s eight as there was today, or thousands as there are at some conferences.
Fun, because I love meeting new people when I’m out at events, learning about them what they do and what brings joy to their day.
Last week, I spoke for a conference in downtown Denver and had the joy of holding a sweet baby. Puppy that is. Some of these HR conferences (maybe others do it too) have a “Puppy Playtime” session at their conferences. They bring in puppies that need to be adopted. The rumor is, this guy is Sharpei and lab. Every time I went to put him down, he nuzzled his head in my arm! I think that’s manipulation of the puppy kind.
No, I didn’t bring him home. I don’t think Nanook and Snowi would have been too thrilled about it.

It is so important to have the confidence to ask and negotiate for what you want. AND expect it to happen. Total game changer…if you’re into making things happen that align with your goals.
Remember, you have ~50,000 thoughts a day. Choose them wisely. Focus on what you want to see, stop rewinding the movies in your head that are focused on fear and the bad things that “could” happen. It’s a choice you get to make every day, every hour, every minute.
What are you thinking about right now? Does it energize you and make you feel good? Or is it making you crabby, anxious and irritable?
I have faith in you, think of something – right now – that brings a smile to your face. That’s it. Stay in that place for a while…you’ll be happy you did.
