Are you good at letting go? Do you know what it really means to let go of the outcome? Most people are great at setting goals and creating intentions but then things, situations, people and life get in the way and they don’t understand why they didn’t get what they wanted. And let’s be honest, it can be frustrating. You want it, you’ve decided you’re going to achieve it and whammo, it doesn’t happen.
One of the things I’ve learned in the many years I’ve studied the human brain and quantum physics is the magic around letting go. The one thing we aren’t privy to is what timing works best in the Universe. It’s easy to look back later and see why things didn’t happen the way you wanted them to, but it’s hard when you need an answer to a work situation, you need more money or you’ve got to get out of a relationship you’re in because you know it isn’t healthy.
No matter what you set out to do, life flows when you don’t get too attached to what you want. “Well, hey Lori wait a minute, don’t you have a speech called, Anything is Possible?” Yes, I do, and the message is powerful because we have to understand that some of the things we want may not be ready at the time we think we’re ready for them. So it’s best to set your goals, intentions and create your affirmations and then let go.
This was a really difficult thing for me to “get” for a long time. Because I studied so much about goal setting, visualizing, feeling and being in the moment of having what I wanted – or achieving a big goal I set. But when it doesn’t happen right as you want it to and you start to doubt, you are then sending the wrong message across the airwaves. Now you’re putting negativity out there instead of staying on course firm in your belief about the situation you want to create in your life. Sometimes life, just like summer in any city, has detours we’ve got to get through first.
It’s really a process of surrender. And when you’ve made your goals and intentions really clear and know what you want, the next step is to let it go and not be too attached to the outcome. When things I’ve invested a lot of time in don’t turn out the way I had hoped, I look for the lesson and watch for when the shift occurs to see if that situation, thing or event comes back around because many times it does.
Be clear, set your goals, speak your intentions and affirmations and watch for what the Universe sends you. It may not be what you were looking for, but it will certainly be what you need right then and there to continue in your school of life and the lessons you’re here to learn. Don’t get frustrated, look for the opportunity and every outcome you get will be a blessing for you.
