Do You Fight or Flow?

January 17, 2017

One of the biggest things that affects quality of life is how you react to it.
Do you fight it or do you flow with it? It takes a lot of energy to fight:

  • – Being annoyed by what someone does or doesn’t do
  • – Choosing to stay angry about something that happened—that you have no control over
  • – Continually attempting to change your spouse, co-workers or kids (that’s a BIG job)
  • – Stressing out and being pissed off about the weather
  • – Holding on to the thought (and telling everyone) how your life sucks

Just look at that list! There is a lot of energy sapping things there and that’s only naming a few. One of the core principles of success is to take 100% responsibility for your life.  That means:

  • No blaming
  • No complaining
  • No defending

It means just plan owning your life and how you got to where you are. How did you contribute to, or allow a situation to happen? If you’re honest with yourself you’ll see it.

Oh, I know, it’s so much easier to blame the weather, or your kids for why you’re late. Or to blame your employee or co-worker for why you lost the deal or didn’t get the promotion. But what if you took the step forward to own your life, to take full responsibility? You would reduce a lot of stress and in the process you would begin to be honest with yourself. Authenticity is a beautiful thing.

When you complain, it’s because somewhere inside you have a reference point of how things can be different, but up until now you have not been willing to risk making it happen. It is a choice you are making.

How much more could you do if you learned to live in flow? Sometimes things don’t happen when you want them to, but they happen when the timing is best for your life. Assess the situation you’re in, take responsibility (own your s*@!), decide what’s next and move. You’ll have energy for more fun, free time and laughter in your life. That will give you a strong foundation to achieve the level of success you’re longing for in any aspect of your life. And that is what I want for you.
